A Look at Last High School Basketball Season

New Hanover High School - 2012 NC 4A Boys Basketball State Champions

  

      Just Wanted to send a Shout out to the 2011-12 New Hanover High School boys basketball team for a very exciting basketball season last year that ended with a more than deserved state Championship victory. They Defeated a tough West Charlotte team out of Charlotte 67-56 on the way to a record 14th state championship title Most in NC history.

The Wildcats Finished season with a record of 30 wins & 1 lost. With some tough Wins against some of the states best Such as: Clayton, Millbrook, Broughton, Mt. St Joseph (MD), Hoggard, Hoke County, and West Charlotte with their 1 lost coming to a tough Pine Forest team in the MLK Jamboree at Union High School.

The team coached by Kirk Angel features several seniors that have moved on this year to play college sports at some level. Below is a list of player that moved on to play college sports.

Kadeem Allen - State Championship Game MOP - Hutchinson Junior College

Thomas Johnson - State Tournament MVP - College of Central Florida

Daquan Barnes - East Carolina University (Football)

Shaun Abraham - Brunswick Community College

Congrats again to New Hanover High School and we look forward to covering them again this year in their quest to defend their title.
